National Mycotoxin Workshop


	National Mycotoxin Workshop - 23 March 2009

	A national mycotoxin workshop took place on Monday, 23 March 2009, in Pretoria at which the following presentations were made.The objectives of the workshop were to establish a cleared direction and strategy for mycotoxin research in South Africa. This workshop was funded by the Maize Trust.

	• Dr G.J. Marais - Post harvest mycotoxins associated with the maize industry • Ms Maryke Herbst - Regulatory systems in South Africa and relevant import_exported countries • Mr Ian Small - Host resistance to manage mycotoxin contamination in maize • Dr Hester Vismer - Identification and quantification of major mycotoxins in terms of occurrence and hazard for humans • Dr Gordon Shephard - Status and prevalance of Mycotoxins in grain derived products • Mr Brett Roosendaal - Identification and quantification of major mycotoxins in terms of occurence and hazards for animals and trade • Dr Bradley Flett - Beating the mycotoxin menace • Ms Azel Swemmer - LC-MSMS, the new reference method for mycotoxin analysis • Mr Dr Altus Viljoen - Status and prevalance of mycotoxins in maize
